November, 2015

This week was really good. this week was really busy for us because between all of our service we had Thanksgiving of course but also the prier Bishop of the Pukalani ward died and had his funeral on Saturday so we were doing that all Saturday it was sad the ward really loved him. But Thanks giving was a blast first we woke up at 6:00am to go play B-ball with some non members then after that the Makawao ward was having a turkey bowel so we played foot ball for 2 1/2 hours then after that they wanted to play soccer..... I don’t play soccer :( but i got roped into it and was the worst goalie ever. then some members in our war named the Kirtons they invited us over to play bored games (YES!) haha we did that until 6 Because we had dinner with the Mossman Clan as I like to call them they are all family just there are like four last names because of marriage. they are like my favorite people to have dinner with we just hang out and talk untill we have to leave for curfew. its way fun. also i leared that i will have another person in the family that i don't know thanks to Dayna and Andrew

I am ok this week was really hard for me not really sure why mission is really up and down for me most the time i am happy i am here, but sometimes all I want to do is go home but normally if i just pray a lot and read i make it threw. we have a few people none that we really teach we do alot of service in Maui which is really fun! we are slowly making progress with them i think they are all pretty solid so we should be good as long as i don't get transferred.

i feel so disconnected from everything its feels good to know where everything is at home. we did 46 hours of service this last week! it was awesome I am burning a shirt on the 19th so i am really excited for that. . I feel like we could be doing more here but if anything at least were out of the pad doing service also its so cold in the morning sometimes its super hard to get out of bed most the time i just study in bed and you know how that turns out haha i am trying to be better i got kind of lax when i came to maui but i am getting back into it and am going to baptize nations hopefully i have only had one real convert baptism hoping to times that by ten by the end of my mission

(got an actual real letter from him)

Aloha Ohana!
Yep this is a letter ha ha. It's been awhile, so I thought I would write you. Where do I begin? Umm so I hit my big one year mark on Dad's Birthday which is in 9 days, in case you're wondering ha ha. I am really excited to be on the down hill side. I am currently serving on the up country side of Maui called Pukalani. It's got the best ward in the world with the exception of the 7th ward of course. My companion is from Murray, Utah, he is the oldest of 4 and is almost done with his mission he finishes in March, he has a lot of experience and success, it's good to be with someone who knows stuff especially after training Elder Jensen, as much fun as that was. Elder Maybe and I were white washed in so we are still trying to find people to teach, we have a few potential members that we do service for. Maui zone has the most service hours in the whole mission. Just in our area alone we have 30-40 hrs a week. We hope that we can open their hearts that way. In Pukalani ward we have a lot of part member families, which is awesome for mission work because there is always a member present for every lesson, and most the time it's their spouse and that's even better. A for me I feel like I have really grown in just the past six weeks in Maui. I used to get all stressed out about numbers and just everything, really but being away from the craziness of Oahu has made me a better teacher and more relaxed and calm missionary, and the ward Elder Mabey and I are in , love us for that. In the last year the bond I have with my Father in Heaven has turned from something that I hoped to have, to something that is unbreakable, and that I know is there. I am a better person because of it, and now I like to read the scriptures instead of dreading it.

Maui is cold!! ha ha really cold where we live, the members say it can get into the 60's during the day and the 40's at night! When i go to bed I use 4 blankets and sometimes use our heater, I know it probably doesn't seem that cold to you, but once you have been living in Hawaii for a year it's really cold if it's below 70. It's crazy to think that I turn 20 in December. It makes me feel old, but not as old as dad, ha ha. I am hoping that I get to stay in Maui for at least the next two transfers, because if I got transferred it would be on my birthday and i would miss the holidays here which would not be cool, but it's kind of a toss up between me and my companion, and anyways I hope you have a great Thanksgiving and for dad to have a Happy 62nd Birthday ha ha. Love you guys!
Elder Olson
P.S I'm not opposed to a Thanksgiving Package!

( I had been contacted by the mission home and they told me Jason lost his wallet, they had me call the bank, dmv, etc to get things replaced, after I did that, his wallet was found the next day. I was worried he didn't have access to his money, but i should have know he would be taken care of)

No I am good for example we went to Ihop with the whole zone today we knew its not the wisest thing for us to spend money on but we went anyway and right as we were about to spend almost the last of our money the Mahi's from our ward walked in and gave us 40$ and paid for our meal also there is this really cool lady that gives us choke food every Friday so we really don't have to spend any of our money we just do on Pdays mainly so thanks but the Pukalaniu ward has got our backs hahaha

Hey so I am 17 days away from my 1/2 way mark haha so awesome! WE GOT OUR CAR BACK! its really cool because its a 2014 BLUE Chevy Cruze I love blue. I heard about Tyler O. I have been emailing him you should go to his farewell.  Being around all of theses big family's makes me wish I was closer with all of my family. I feel like now that we have our car we will be able to have tons of success here In Pukalani there are so many people that are prepared in this area we will do real well. we get a few referrals But i think i have only got about 20 my whole mission most people we find which is way harder then going through the members.I am doing really well right now i love Elder Mabey and i love my ward and my zone. Right now we are taking care of our members cat haha super funny people its like there child we have been doing it for like a week now but the only down side is that is evil it always attacks me stupid cat haha. for hallween we just got to hang out as a zone and play games it was alot of fun! thanks for the picture good to see evelynn walking super cute. love you guys don't think about me i am fine your always in my prayers tell dad I love Him and that I really need to go fishing I miss it so much. Also there is this really awesome family in my ward named the Wunders and they have a son that is visiting from Eagle Mountain right now its super cool he is a bishop and lives by pony express. Whats even more crazy is that he met his wife on his mission. they served in the Oakland California Mission haha so many connections. he knows alot of the kids i went to school with so its way fun having them here.
